A Visit from the Expert

I am from good people. I don't say that to brag, because it means I have a lot of work to do to live up to them.

My grandfather is the best. He has already appeared in this blog multiple times already and now he gets his own post! I had talked to him about how to start the garden and my husband and I began getting the supplies. My brother in law was supposed to be coming the following weekend so we held off on getting the soil until he was here and could help my husband cart it all in. We were going to tell him at the airport :).

Then, I got a call out of the blue one morning from Pete offering to come build the bed for me. Pete lives 3 hours away and was willing to drive 6 hours in one day to build my vegetable garden for me. See, I told you I am from good people.

Pete and his friend Jose showed up on a Thursday morning with a truckload of compost and a wheelbarrow ready to work. They got the box built and filled with top soil and compost in around 2 hours! We ate lunch together and they were back on the road back home!
Some people may think it would be wasted time to drive almost 3 times the amount of time of actual work. But not my Pete. He saw it as a chance to help his granddaughter with a project they share interest in and that is all the reason he needed. Because that is the kind of man he is and that is what I mean when I say I come from good people. It also didn't hurt that he go to see his great grandson!
